The last country I visited was Brazil in November of last year. What an amazing experience! We traveled to Brazil on a cruise ship and our first stop was Recife.

There are a lot of similarities between Brazil and Mauritius- perhaps due to the fact that we can find a lot of sugar cane fields and sugar factories in Brazil? Food for thought………

After Recife, we visited Maceio, followed by Salvador de Bahia. These secondary cities depict the strong influence of Portuguese culture and Portuguese architecture.

The cherry on the cake? Amazing Rio de Janeiro, a vibrant city with landmarks such as Copacabana, Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf mountain. Before I forget let me add that amongst the best items one can buy in Brazil are shoes. I became crazy and bought so many of them. Iconic brands like Ipanema abound in all colors and models – a shopaholic’s paradise!!!

Let’s talk about the food. Fresh fruit juice bars can be found at every street corner. The Pao de queijo is to die for and for those meat eaters, eating the famous prime cuts in the form of a barbecue is an absolute must-do!! If I am not mistaken it’s called churrasco.

Will I go back to Brazil? Definitely because I still have to visit the Amazon River
